Description

When a flood forces a condemned prisoner and her guards to seek refuge at the convent, Sister Mary Bonaventure comes face to face with the reality of capital punishment. Convinced of Sarat Carn’s innocence, Sister Mary turns detective in a race against time to save her from the gallows.

 

Background information

The play is set in the Fens during the flood of 1947.

The story was filmed as Thunder on the Hill with Claudette Colbert in the role of Sister Mary Bonaventure.

This is the first play we have staged at St Mary’s since Rosie Collard’s successful production of Murder in the Cathedral in 1992.
